About Our Trading Post

When we acquired Bear’s Trading Post in 1999, we had a mission: To promote goodwill by demonstrating that an ethically operated pawnshop is an asset to the community.

Historically, most pawn shops advertise to buy or pawn ‘anything of value’; however, Bear’s Trading Post doesn’t make that claim. We deal in a very diverse and broad range of merchandise but there are certain items that we don’t have a market for and cannot accept. In such cases we are happy to make recommendations and we will do our very best to point you in the right direction.

When you see our bright and welcoming store you will quickly get a feel for the wide variety of merchandise that we handle. We are appreciative of every opportunity to earn your business so please don’t hesitate to call or visit with any questions you may have.

  • What is the difference between Pawning and Selling an Item?

A pawn is a 30-day loan where we hold item(s) as collateral until the customer returns to

redeem his or her item(s) Pawn loans can be extended beyond 30 days if necessary, as long

as the customer returns by the due date to pay for an extension. We charge a very reasonable

fee for interest and storage. The fee varies depending on the amount of the loan and is clearly outlined in the agreement. We allow a grace period for loan payments and we don't charge late fees. All items in pawn are stored safely and out of sight in a secure storage area. When a customer opts to sell us an item it is understood that they do not want it back and that we will display and sell it in our shop. We can typically offer more money to purchase an item.

  • What is required to pawn or sell an item?

Must be over the age of 18 and have valid photo identification. The customer must sign an agreement stating that he or she has the legal authority to pawn/sell the item(s). In compliance with city ordnance, every item that we buy or pawn is reported to the Records Department of the WPD at the end of each day

  • What are your hours?

Tuesday thru Friday 10:00am to 6:00pm, Saturday 10:00am to 4:00pm, CLOSED: Sunday and Monday.

  • Where are you located?

Exactly 1/2 mile west of Interstate i-81 on route 7 in Winchester. 710 Berryville Ave, Winchester, VA 22601

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, money order, and all major credit cards.

  • Why sell to Bear's Trading Post instead of selling online?

We can put money in your pocket today, with no hassle and no strings attached. The auction

sites take several days for your funds to clear and leave you vulnerable to scams, refund

requests, and the potential for shipping damage. Not to mention the rapidly rising fees

associated with selling online. And why risk dealing with a stranger in an unfamiliar

environment, or worse yet at your home? Take the risk and uncertainty out of the equation by

safely selling your items to Bear’s Trading Post.

  • What is the best way to contact us?

If it’s a time-sensitive inquiry, we recommend calling during regular business hours. If you’d like

to send us pictures of an item, please email them directly to BTPost@comcast.net

  • Does Bear's Trading Post offer title loans?

    No, we do not.
